All
the ironwork on this cupboard was made from pure iron, by our highly
skilled master blacksmith, who consistently uses old fashioned working
techniques.. Pure iron has just started to be manufactured again in
limited quantities and actually pre-dates wrought iron. The Romans were
using this material and its consistency makes for more reliable forging,
particularly when fire welding. All the nails used to fix the lock plates
and hinges were hand forged. |
