HANDMADE OAK JOINED STOOL, typical of the second half of the 17th century. This particular example is based on one in the collection at the Victoria and Albert museum in London. The ‘ball and fillet’ legs are joined by channel moulded stretchers and shaped rails. The top has a simple scratch moulding down each side for decoration. On this stool you will see the ‘toes’ at the extremities of the legs have been turned into a ball shape, partly eroded by constant dragging across the ground. |
