| A HANDMADE COPY OF A CARVED OAK STOOL FROM THE LATE TUDOR PERIOD. Note the embryonic cup and cover legs and the ‘rot‘ at the base of the feet and on the stretchers. The thick moulded top is pegged into the rails, the preferred method of fixing, rather than into the tops of the legs. Original early carved stools are highly sought after and prices typically range from around £5,000 to upwards of £25,000 each from a specialist in early oak. |
