TUDOR STYLE OAK CUPBOARD - INTERIOR

A close look at the carcase front frame, shows the left hand opening having darker patination right to the back edge, whereas the right hand opening (centre door) shows the patination only just goes back beyond the front chamfered edge. The reason for this is because the centre door would have originally been a fixed panel and, therefore, the area behind this panel would have been inaccessible.

Note how the varying width base boards have 'shrunk', leaving gaps in between. See also the 'pit sawn' surfaces of the interior boards and framework. Whilst some we have convincingly reproduced, others are actually original.

Also visible, at the back, is the new oak support for the 'later' shelf (omitted for this photograph).

On the back of the centre door (extreme right of photo) you can see the new oak pieces used to fill out the thinner chamfered edges of the 'fixed panel', to make it into a usable door.
